Hotel & Spa Resort La Vista Akangawa Kushiro

Our experience at La Vista Hotel highlighted a concerning lack of flexibility, especially given the hotel’s 5-star luxury status. On the day of our checkout, we realized we were short by 2,000 yen, required for a cash-only airport shuttle that was due to depart in 10 minutes. We approached the hotel’s customer care for a solution, fully understanding and acknowledging our oversight. Given that our stay at the hotel was valued at over 50,000 yen, we hoped for some level of understanding and assistance. However, the hotel’s response was inflexible and dismissive. Despite multiple pleas for assistance, we were repeatedly told that there were “no options” available. Was the hotel really willing to let us miss our bus over 2,000 yen? This lack of willingness to help in a minor predicament left us stranded and distressed, jeopardizing our timely arrival at the airport. Thankfully, our situation was resolved by the generosity of a fellow passenger on the bus who kindly offered to lend us the missing 2,000 yen — a simple gesture that the hotel seemed incapable of suggesting. Considering that the hotel operates in a service industry and claims to offer premium experiences, we were deeply disappointed by their inability to assist or suggest any form of solution for a concern of such minor financial magnitude. For potential future guests, it’s worth noting that while the amenities may be luxurious, our experience suggests that the hotel may fall short when it comes to understanding and addressing guests’ genuine concerns.

Had an amazing time at this onsen resort near Lake Akan. Their traditional Japanese styled rooms combined with modern amenities made the stay so comfortable. The staff at check in explained carefully the onsen options, which included 3 different private and public baths, as well as one inside our own bedroom. Their Kaiseki dinner was awesome and I really want to come back to this piece of paradise again some day. Oh and we could see wild deer roaming while soaking in a private onsen... Amazing.

The location of the resort is excellent! Right beside the Akan river, the scene is so beautiful to cure your stress symptoms. Food is great with great service! You can enjoy ice cream made by local milk for free. After 10:00, free ramen was served if you want some meal before sleeping. The service is the best! I left my air pods in the hotel. I found and called the hotel 2 days after checking out. Surprisingly, they said they found it. I asked the hotel if they can send to the next hotel l stayed. They did it right away so it can catch my last day in Hokkaido. What even more surprising is when l called the last hotel l would stayed, they said they had already got a call from La Vista Akangawa to inform them there will be parcel arriving! I had checked out for more than 4 days, but l felt they still care about me. I really appreciated the hospitality and service the hotel demonstrated. Thank you, La Vista Akangawa and Kuramitsu San.

Very rare in Japan but an employee working in the front desk was not friendly and even rude last night when I told him it’s too hot in the room. He replied that it’s central air conditioning and visitors cannot change the temperature in the room. When I asked him at least note it down as feedback because it’s really hot and not comfortable when sleeping, he became very impatient and repeating the answer earlier and emphasized there’s no refund( which I didn’t ask for ). Not a typical Japanese experiences and I was really disappointed.

This is a really lovely resort with amazing views and great service. Highly recommend having your meals here as well, they are elaborate and delicious, and if you are lucky you may see deer or fireflies outside. Our server for dinner was Mami-san and she was super friendly and helpful! Her English was amazing as well! The rooms are clean, although just a bit creepy at night.. I would not want to stay here alone. We stayed on the second level with a river view, though our view was partially blocked by the roof of the onsen below. The resort has public baths (great view) and reserved baths as well. Would love to be back again.

A very nicely situated hotel. The room is spacious and you get a nice view of the stream in the back. The entrance to the hotel can be easily missed so slow down as you approach the resort. There are also a lot of wild animals roaming around so please drive carefully around the area. The nightshift front desk gentleman is a bit cold, we didn't quite feel welcome when we checked in but the day shift ladies seem a lot better.

Awesome ryokan stay in end jan. Fantastic food and service. Very helpful hotel staff too. The onsens are amazing. There are 3 private onsens of varying size and types. Each comes with a outdoor option. The common bath area is huge and well equiped with all the needfuls. The outdoor bath here is much bigger with amazing views. Local dishes are served for breakfast and dinner. Great way to sample some local style cuisine.
